Lochiel Park Stormwater Harvesting and Reuse

Project Description

The Lochiel Park residential development in our eastern suburbs is an excellent example of a well planned and designed urban renewal project. Built on the site of a former educational institution, its Sponge City systems not only treat the stormwater runoff from the development itself, but also from the surrounding urban area. Treated water is stored in underground aquifers and used in the residences for toilet flushing, in washing machines and for irrigation, resulting in a 78% reduction in potable water consumption. With its series of beautifully landscaped water treatment wetlands, it has become a sought after property development.
